We work to ensure an accessible and effective Social work services where individuals with Mental and intellectual disability and their families are protected and empowered to contribute positively in building safer, non-judgemental, non-discriminative, non- prejudice and non-stigmatised communities. To achieve this we:

  • Provide Statutory child protection services to children with Mental health and Intellectual Disabilities.
  • Offer individual and family counselling services to mental health care service users and their families.
  • Provide counselling services and support to individuals and families affected with Mental and Intellectual Disability
  • Conduct Advocacy and awareness programs and campaigns.
  • Provide a secure and safe residential facilities to children and adults with Mental and Intellectual Disabilities.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Department Health and Social Development, SAPS Magistrate courts, Hospitals and other NGOs in ensuring that people with mental disabilities receive quality services.
  • Provide stimulation services to children with intellectual disability.
  • Offer vulnerable, abandoned or orphaned children opportunities to stay in a safe and healthy environment with loving families through the Foster Care programmes offered in Soweto and Ekurhuleni offices.
  • Provide protection to children and adults against any form of abuse and exploitation.
  • Engage the unemployed youth in the community through giving them workplace experience and learnership opportunities through HWSETA programmes.
  • Raise awareness and educate communities about mental illness, mental health, the rights of people with mental and Intellectual disabilities.
  • Facilitate support groups to mental health care beneficiaries in order to educate them about their rights, improve their insight on their condition and the importance of medication adherence.
  • Offer protective workshop services to people with intellectual disabilities in order to give them the opportunity to realize their potential through Skills development activities.
